Who Was Beryl Browne

The Beryl Browne Foundation Is named after an incredible woman who was born and raised in Nevis, West Indies, and who came to the UK in the late 1950’s. beryl browneIn the community of Leeds she became known as ‘Mother Browne’ and became a strong and well-loved community ‘pillar’ – offering support, advice and a nurture to those around her.

Beryl Browne had strong moral values and clear vision – and people would come quite some distance to ask her advice or discuss their problems and issues with her.

She was an inspiration to others, making a difference in the lives of individuals and neighbourhoods and the foundation was set up to honour her memory and continue her great work.

Founded in 2003 and established as a registered charity in 2006, the Foundation continues the community action started in the 1950’s by Beryl Browne. Beryl was a very special person and an inspiration to all who met her.
